Hungry for a Better World

“Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled,” Jesus said. Being hungry sure doesn’t feel like a blessing. Why would Jesus say such a thing? The answer …involves how people were getting their food and money, and at whose expense they got those things. It was better to go hungry than participate in systems that oppressed the poor and vulnerable, Jesus taught, which was true in his day and in ours.
