Uncertain Times

Before everything he knew was destroyed, the prophet Jeremiah did something which appeared totally absurd: he purchased land from his cousin. Didn’t he know that he couldn’t use the land? …Didn’t he know that the situation he was living in was hopeless? Yes, he did, but he trusted that one day, they would live in peace again, and that “Houses and fields and vineyards shall again be bought in this land.” It was an act of radical hope in an uncertain time. As people of faith, we are called to commit these same acts of radical hope today.
